Art for Aids-April 28

Please join Lansing Community College Gay Straight Alliance on April 28, 2012 from 12:00-5:00pm in the Kennedy Cafeteria in the Arts and Science's Building on LCC's main campus for a silent auction of local art pieces. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Lansing Area Aids Network.

Ingham county has the second highest HIV prevalence rate in the state of Michigan. Our county is second only to Detroit in our prevalence rates -- and these are only the known cases of HIV infection in the county. And while the epidemic continues to impact the state, sadly, the federal government announced last year that prevention dollars to the state will decrease by 33 percent -- putting prevention activities at risk. In addition, Ryan White Care Act dollars -- which provide access to services such as medical case management, food assistance, access to medications and more for those living with the disease -- are likely to see reductions in coming years as well.-Todd Heywood

Following are photos of actual pieces donated by community members and Lansing Community College students that will be up for auction on April 28th.
